Mandarin Oriental to Open a New Luxury Resort in Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda by 2026

Mandarin Oriental is delighted to announce the development of a new luxury resort in Sardinia, situated in the heart of Costa Smeralda on the island’s stunning north-east coast. Scheduled to open in mid-2026, this highly anticipated project marks the Group’s fifth property in Italy, further expanding its presence in Europe’s most exclusive destinations.

Perched on a scenic hillside overlooking the Gulf of Pevero, Mandarin Oriental, Porto Cervo will combine accessibility with serene seclusion. Surrounded by lush Mediterranean forest, the resort will offer guests a peaceful retreat to unwind and reconnect with nature. A private beach, accessible via a picturesque 350-metre trail, will provide the perfect setting for relaxation by the sea.

Developed in partnership with Gruppo Statuto, one of Italy’s leading real estate developers known for luxury hospitality projects such as Mandarin Oriental, Milan, this collaboration promises to deliver an exceptional five-star experience. The partnership combines world-class design and Italian craftsmanship with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service and attention to detail.

The resort will feature 83 elegantly designed rooms and suites, all offering spectacular views of the sea and surrounding landscape. Guests will enjoy five distinctive restaurants and bars, showcasing diverse culinary experiences inspired by local and international flavours. The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will provide the brand’s award-winning wellness and holistic treatments in a tranquil sanctuary, complemented by a modern fitness centre and expansive indoor and outdoor pools set amid lush gardens.

For those seeking sun and sea, an exclusive Beach Club on Porto Paglia Beach will offer a sophisticated seaside escape, complete with luxury amenities and personalized service.

Ideally located close to Porto Cervo, the resort is within easy reach of designer boutiques, art galleries, and fine-dining restaurants, and only 30 minutes from Olbia Airport. Nearby attractions such as Porto Cervo Marina and its prestigious Yacht Club—famous for hosting international regattas—along with Sardinia’s hidden coves, pristine beaches, and crystal-clear waters, make north-east Sardinia one of the most desirable destinations in Italy.
