About Alan Fyall

Dr. Alan Fyall is Visit Orlando Endowed Chair of Tourism Marketing and Associate Dean, Academic Affairs at the Rosen College of Hospitality Management, University of Central Florida. He has published widely in his fields of expertise and is the author of over 150 articles, book chapters and conference papers as well as 22 books including Tourism Principles & Practice, one of the leading international textbooks on the subject published by Pearson. Alan currently teaches Destination Marketing & Management.

Alan has organized a number of international conferences and workshops for academic, professional and governmental audiences and is frequently invited to deliver key note addresses. He is Co-Editor of Elsevier’s Journal of Destination Marketing & Management and Co-Editor of Goodfellow Publishers’ Contemporary Cases Online. He also sits on the editorial boards of Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Heritage Tourism, International Journal of Tourism Research, Regional Statistics, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Anatolia.

Alan’s current research interests lie in destination marketing and management and the interrelationships between public health, wellbeing and tourism. Alan is a former Member of the Bournemouth Tourism Management Board (DMO) and Board of Solent Synergy Limited, and has conducted numerous consulting and applied research projects for clients across the UK and overseas including the European Union, Commonwealth Secretariat, Grant Thornton and Malaysian Ministry of Tourism.

Most recent projects relate to the exchange of digital technology knowledge in local tourism economies, the creation of a sub-regional Learning Destination on the South Coast of England, and strategies to engage Generation Y in the international tourism and hospitality industry with studies conducted in the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macao.
